Zalo

Setup Guide

1. Zalo is blocked in China

Zalo messages and calls are blocked by China's Great Firewall. The app may appear to send messages, but recipients outside China receive nothing.

2. Switch to WeChat before departure

Tell your family and friends: 'I'll be on WeChat while in China.' Share your WeChat QR code in your Zalo chats before you fly.

3. Download WeChat at home

Install WeChat from your home App Store. A friend who already uses WeChat must scan your QR to verify your account — this cannot be done inside China.

4. VPN workaround (unreliable)

A VPN can sometimes restore Zalo in China, but many VPNs are also blocked. Don't rely on VPN as your only plan.
