Setup Guide
-
Download the App
Search 'Pinduoduo' on App Store or Google Play. You can also access it via WeChat Mini-Programs.
-
Register with Phone or WeChat
Use your phone number or log in directly with your WeChat account. WeChat login is the fastest option if you already have it set up.
-
Add a Delivery Address
Go to Profile → My Addresses → Add Address. Enter your Chinese address carefully — many Pinduoduo sellers ship from factories and rely on the address label alone.
-
Link a Payment Method
WeChat Pay is the primary payment method. Alipay and Chinese bank cards are also supported. International credit cards are generally not accepted.
-
Understand the Group-Buy Model
To get the lowest price, choose the '拼单' (group buy) option and share the link with a friend. If no friend joins within 24 hours, your order still ships at a slightly higher solo price.
-
Check Reviews Carefully
Tap on a product and scroll down to read buyer reviews and look at photos uploaded by real purchasers. Factory-direct items often look different from the listing photos.
Field Notes
Real-world tips from users in China
- Prices are the lowest of any Chinese e-commerce platform — useful for everyday items like household goods, clothing, and snacks.
- Quality varies significantly: factory-direct items (工厂直发) are often unbranded. Check buyer photo reviews, not just the star rating.
- Shipping is slower than JD — expect 3–7 days for most orders, longer for remote areas.
- The app interface is dense with pop-ups and banners — this is normal. Dismiss them and navigate to what you need.
- Pinduoduo's international version is Temu — if you want to try the model before arriving in China, Temu ships globally.
