Frequently Asked Questions
Can tourists use iQIYI in China?
iQIYI is a major Chinese streaming service for TV dramas, movies, and originals. It works on Chinese networks and can be downloaded from local app stores. Some content is free with ads, while premium titles require a VIP subscription.
Does iQIYI work outside mainland China?
iQIYI is primarily designed for the mainland Chinese market. Access from overseas is often limited or blocked, so travelers usually need to be on a Chinese network or use a VPN to stream its full library.
Do I need a Chinese phone number for iQIYI?
Signing up for an iQIYI account typically requires a Chinese mobile number for verification. Visitors without a local SIM may not be able to register, though some free content can be browsed without logging in.
Is iQIYI free or paid?
iQIYI offers a mix of free ad-supported videos and premium VIP content. Popular dramas and exclusive originals usually sit behind a paid subscription, while older or less popular titles can be watched at no cost.
